Megan is a goddess! My goodness she is beautiful and a natural with being in front of the camera.
For this maternity session, multiple things came together to give her these portraits. First, we planned a location that gave us variety. We also ended the evening during golden hour, to get that dreamy warm light. We decided to go to Salt Creek and Lake Crescent Washington. Salt creek is beautiful at low tide, has awesome rocks, and an area with tall grass. Lake Crescent has a breathtaking view of mountains and water. Another important part was the wardrobe.
We had a vision!
Megan knew she wanted the shot with the dress open down the front, so she found a dress that buttons all the way down. The red dress pops against the green grass too, which draws our eyes in. All the dresses she wore gave movement and texture to her portraits.
Another important thing she did was that she was always moving. Movement helps the portraits to not feel so stiff and posed. The wind was perfect when she was up on the rocks! I’m a sucker for windblown hair as well!
Ian, Megan’s husband, was great during the session. He helped bring out the smiles and laughter in Megan. You could tell she finds comfort in his arms…
Ian and Megan, you are a beautiful couple and I cannot wait to photograph the birth of your baby boy at Salmonberry Birth Center in Poulsbo Washington! Bring on the tissues, because I can already tell I’ll be teary eyed at this birth!
